DYLYN Releases Music Video & Single 'Something to Lose'

June 18, 2020

Ontario, Canada singer/songwriter DYLYN recently released her music video and single "Something to Lose". In her words, "My new song, “Something to Lose,” was born from a romance that eventually bloomed into a relationship. At the time, my heart was healing so it was a safe, trusting space where love could flourish. You are capable of love, even if you feel damaged and broken." This single is relatable for anyone getting over heartache to then becoming scared when you find love once again.

Originally from the outskirts of Toronto Canada, her father is of British descent, and her mother from China mainland. Growing up she had listened to Fleetwood Mac, Led Zeppelin, and Blondie as three of her biggest influences, DYLYN is an authentic rocker girl at heart. She is also a hardcore "Trekkie", bragging of her Star Trek collection, and owning every single episode of Star Trek: Next Generation. "I grew up listening to Zeppelin, playing hockey, video games and watching star trek." After performing over 250 shows across North America and Europe, and working on new material with producer Colin Munroe (Drake, Sky Ferreira), she says, “Its been an incredible soul searching year for me. I’ve learned a lot about myself.”

"The most important thing about a love song is that it teleports you to a moment, story, or scenario that applies to them. It’s all about the listener – that's the power of music.

There seems to be an underlying theme of darkness throughout “Something to Lose” and most of my yet-to-be-released new record. I've enjoyed bringing out other characters that live within my spirit.

Sometimes it’s nice to dance with the darkness."
