New Music Alert: Carly Rae Jepsen

February 27, 2019

After (finally) receiving her sword at Lollapalooza last August, the queen of everything, Carly Rae Jepsen, has returned, releasing two new songs today, entitled "Now That I Found You" and "No Drug Like Me". These singles, along with December's "Party For One", are Jepsen's newest releases since 2016's "Cut To The Feeling."

Carly Rae Jepsen has had a momentous career, topping international charts with bubblegum pop track "Call Me Maybe" in 2012. Critics and fans alike then fell in love with her next project, 2015's "EMOTION". She now has a loyal following who are in love with the new releases- and we here at GMAT couldn't agree more!

"Now That I Found You" is a bright track, bursting at the seams with Jepsen's energy- similar vibes occur here to Jepsen's 2015 hit "I Really Like You." The production feels very eighties-inspired, and her vocals are top notch. Jepsen feels incredibly soulful and full of life and passion. At the final bridge she belts out a high note, that is jaw dropping to say the least. The track is full of synth and life and everything we love about Jepsen's music. This song will turn any room into a dance floor. The lyrics are a love-ridden Jepsen expressing her love and journey to find love. The chorus sings "I see the heavens open, a heart that once was broken is holding nothing back now that I found you" This song is a bop and already ranks up there among Carly's best songs to date.

"No Drug Like Me" is certainly more of a tuned down track- but certainly has the essence of Carly's take on a ballad. The production is more laid back and chill- allowing her dreamy and high vocals to shine. The pre-chorus is incredibly infectious as she sings "Oh, starry eyes, blurry eyes.. feeling so intoxicated.. worried eyes, I'm open wide.. take me so up and down" This leads into a more bass-oriented chorus that pops among the relaxed verses. The eighties influence evidently continues, and results in a beautiful track.

GMAT cannot wait to hear the remainder of Jepsen's upcoming project- and if these songs are any indication- it could definitely be one of the best records of 2019! We hope you kept her number!
