New Band Alert: Chase Atlantic

September 19, 2018

Chase Atlantic is not your typical alternative pop band. This Australian band have paved the way for what they call “dark alternative pop punctuated by rock and R&B”. Their music style is a fusion of multiple genres accented by the notes of a saxophone. They’ve played festivals such as Warped Tour, Lollapalooza, and Bonnaroo alongside bands such as Sleeping With Sirens. Now, they are making their way around the world on their own tour.

A lot of Chase Atlantic’s music is composed of dark, ominous lyrics that discuss the hardships of life instead of trivial things. Some of these hardships include being addicted and feeling numb because of drugs, not being able to cope with depression, or not giving full attention to the person they love. For example, their song “Uncomfortable” talks about abusing drugs and alcohol to stay relaxed. Some of their lyrics are “I’m not comfortable. No, I just can’t seemed to feel at all...So, I’ll take another pharmaceutical...Abusing my liver will keep emotions down”. I believe these lyrics relate to a lot of people in this day and age because they would rather drown their sorrows with liquor than to talk about their feelings. The way Chase Atlantic delivers this message through their songs is extremely eye opening that so many people deal with the same problems and thoughts.

If you haven’t listened to Chase Atlantic yet, give them a try. All of their songs are about important issues in today’s society and are interesting because they aren’t all in the same genre of music. Some of their most popular songs include “Okay”, “Dancer in the Dark” which is reminiscent of some 80’s synth vibes, and their most recent single “Tidal Wave”. Check out their music on Spotify and Itunes and check them out live on their upcoming US tour:
