There's nothing better to compliment a great film than a great soundtrack. Coming-of-age movies in particular tend to have really solid soundtracks- ones that come to mind include Juno, The Perks of Being a Wallflower and The Edge of Seventeen. Compelling new songs mixed with old classics create the background to films representing topics dealing with young adults. Love, Simon is one-of-a kind for certain, being the first mainstream primarily LGBT film. The movie based on the best-selling novel "Simon Vs The Homosapien's Agenda" by Becky Albertalli centers around Simon Spier, a junior in high school who is gay and the plot follows his journey coming out. There really is not a movie like it out there and the celebration of a gay character being so present in a film is one for the ages.
Jack Antonoff, famed for projects like Steel Train, fun, and Bleachers has taken the soundtrack to this film on. On top of executive producing the album, Antonoff contributes multiple tracks. Openly gay singer Troye Sivan appears on the soundtrack and has expressed his excitement over being a part of the project. A new Amy Shark song appears, as well as multiple never been released before Bleachers tracks- including already released "Alfie's Song (Not So Typical Love Song)- which is one of Bleachers' best songs to date. A standout has to be the soon to be released duet between Antonoff and singer MO. The soundtrack will be released the same day as the movie- March 16 2018.
